Calgary winter property enquiries
Choose the snow clearing enquiry that fits your property: residential access, commercial sites, public sidewalks or recurring winter maintenance.
Calgary Grading is an enquiry and referral service. No snow contractor or route coverage is confirmed. A request does not book work or guarantee a quote, arrival time or emergency dispatch.

Choose the enquiry that fits your property. The service categories below help you describe the work you want. Availability, pricing, equipment and scheduling must be confirmed by a contractor before any work is agreed.
Homes, rental properties and small driveways. Request driveway, walkway, steps and public sidewalk clearing; compare a one-time visit with seasonal service.
Explore requirements →Retail lots, offices, industrial sites and condo properties. Describe lot plowing, pedestrian routes, ice management and seasonal or per-event requirements.
Explore requirements →Describe the driveway width, slope, surface and where a machine can enter. Mention rear-lane access, a parking pad, gravel or vehicles that stay parked. Ask where snow will be stacked and whether compacted tire tracks or a street-plow ridge require additional work.
Identify the public sidewalk as well as private paths, stairs and landings. A corner property may have frontage on two streets. Show the route people actually use, including access to side doors and gates. Confirm whether hand clearing and ice treatment are separate items.
A one-time request covers an identified visit; a seasonal agreement defines an ongoing service period. Ask what initiates a visit and how a continuing snowfall is handled. Do not assume a monthly price covers every winter month or every return visit.
Snow clearing and ice management are related tasks with different triggers. Melting snowbanks and downspout discharge can refreeze without new snowfall. Describe recurring icy areas and ask who monitors them, what materials are appropriate and whether follow-up treatments are included.
Separate parking stalls from drive aisles, customer entrances, curb ramps and pedestrian connections. Provide opening hours and the time staff arrive. Identify delivery windows, accessible routes and any areas that cannot be closed while clearing is underway.
Include loading docks, trailer manoeuvring areas, overhead restrictions and storage yards in the site scope. Tell a prospective contractor about restricted access, gates and operating shifts. Equipment needs and available snow storage should be reviewed for the actual site.
Map shared walks, visitor parking, entrances, mail access and resident traffic. Agree how vehicles are moved and how missed areas are revisited. Clarify the manager’s approval process, resident communication and the records needed for invoices and maintenance review.
Ask for written snowfall triggers, clearing windows, storm return visits, ice checks, stacking zones and escalation contacts. Hauling should specify the point at which piles are removed and which loading, transport and disposal costs are additional. Coverage and equipment remain subject to confirmation.
A low headline price can cover a different job. Calgary Grading does not publish contractor rates because we have no verified partner pricing. Ask for a written quote tied to your location, clearing area, access and required timing. Snow plowing moves accumulation; hauling removes it from the property and may be quoted separately.

Our team reviews the request. If a relevant contractor is available, we discuss the next step and ask permission before a handoff.
There is no charge to submit. No contractor match, proposal, visit or response deadline is guaranteed. Please do not rely on an unconfirmed enquiry to meet an urgent clearing requirement.
Calgary’s published guidance says property owners must remove snow and ice from public sidewalks bordering their property, down to bare surface, within 24 hours after snowfall ends. Certain public pathways bordering a property must be cleared to a minimum width of 1.5 metres within the same period.
Snow from your private driveway or walkway must be piled on your property. The City distinguishes this from snow cleared from a public sidewalk or pathway. Plan a storage location before the first clearing, especially on small lots and commercial sites with limited parking.
A private snow contract should clearly identify the bordering sidewalk and the required timing. Requesting a quote through this website does not arrange clearing or satisfy the requirement. Confirm the current rule and your specific responsibilities directly with the City.

Snow storage is part of winter property planning. Piles beside a foundation, over a swale or across a drain can affect the route meltwater takes. Keep drainage routes visible when conditions allow, and record recurring pooling during a thaw. Clearing snow does not correct a yard that slopes toward the house. Our Calgary freeze-thaw guide explains the connection; drainage correction information helps separate a seasonal obstruction from an underlying drainage issue.
