Accessibility

This site targets WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Below is what has actually been built and checked, rather than a general statement of intent.

What has been implemented

Structure and navigation

  • Semantic landmarks: header, nav, main, footer on every page.
  • A skip to content link as the first focusable element on the page.
  • One H1 per page, with a logical heading order beneath it.
  • The current page marked with aria-current in both desktop and mobile navigation.
  • Visible breadcrumbs on every page below the homepage.
  • Descriptive link text throughout. No bare "click here" or "read more" links without context.

Keyboard and focus

  • Everything operable by keyboard, including the mobile navigation drawer.
  • A visible focus ring on every interactive element, with a lighter variant on dark backgrounds.
  • Focus moved into the mobile menu when it opens and returned to the toggle when it closes.
  • Focus trapped inside the mobile menu while it is open, with Escape to close.
  • Focus moved to the first field that failed validation when a form is rejected.
  • No keyboard traps anywhere else on the site.

Forms

  • Every field has a visible label that is programmatically associated with its control.
  • Hints and error messages linked to their fields with aria-describedby.
  • Invalid fields marked with aria-invalid, and errors shown in text and by an icon, never by colour alone.
  • Submission results announced through an aria-live region.
  • Correct input types and autocomplete attributes so mobile keyboards and autofill behave.
  • Inputs at 16px so iOS does not zoom the viewport on focus.

Presentation

  • Body text at 16px with a line height of at least 1.5.
  • Colour contrast meeting or exceeding AA for text and meaningful interface elements.
  • Interactive controls sized at a minimum of 44px in their smallest dimension.
  • Animation and smooth scrolling disabled when prefers-reduced-motion is set.
  • Layouts that reflow to 320px without horizontal scrolling, with wide tables scrolling inside their own container.
  • Diagrams provided as SVG with descriptive accessible names.

Known limitations

Automated testing and manual keyboard checking have been carried out. A full screen reader pass across every page and browser combination has not, so it is possible that something announces less clearly than intended. If you find something, please tell us.

No photography has been supplied for this site yet. When images are added, each will carry descriptive alternative text, and images that are purely decorative will be hidden from assistive technology rather than given filler descriptions.
